Hey everyone, today we're doing an SEO roast of a really interesting website. It's called Niche Tools. Niche Tools is a product that helps you find untapped opportunities to create free web tools that attract a ton of organic traffic. The idea is that instead of spending hours upon hours doing market research to find a perfect tool idea, Niche Tools has already done the work for you and they compiled a list of 1,000 tool ideas across various niches. You get all the stuff you need to start doing a SEO for free tool marketing and it will include all the key data points like search volume, keyword difficulty, and even some live examples of similar tools that are already getting real SEO traffic. So Niche Tools could be really a huge time saver for you. I'm excited to dive in and audit their website to see how they're doing, how they're attracting organic traffic, taking a look at the on-page SEO, backlink profile, keyword gaps, and anything else that we might find. So let's take a look right now. So the website is nichetools.net. The heading, the H1, is Turn Tools Into Income. The description is quite obvious and broad and they have all the key information over here. You can get Niche Tools, it scrolls down, it gives you all the pricing that you need, basic lifetime access, ultimate lifetime access, and once you click to purchase, you get redirected to Stripe with the Niche Tools link and a way to purchase. There are two plans, $99 and $299, and the bigger plan, you get a bunch of extra tools for free. They show some examples, yeah, with Niche Tools, you get a lot of SEO traffic, something that I've been trying to promote as well, free tool marketing really works, and it's another way to do SEO if you are a developer yourself. And it's a little bit better, potentially, than just writing blog posts for your website. I know people that I talk to often and they suddenly launch the free tool and they get tons and tons of traffic, so this really works for Niche Tools. So I know for a fact this strategy is legit. But the website seems to be very simple. I believe it's a ship fast purchase, and here they have some free tools that they made themselves. For example, MRR Calculator, if you have 83K MRR, that means your progress to one million is something like this. If you have 5K MRR, you still have a lot of work left and you can tweet it. There is a free SEO checker powered by Niche Tools, and if we type in itself, let's see what it gives us. And finally, there's a free MetaTag generator that gives you the HTML for it. So these pages themselves are free tools, so that's a good way to promote a product and explain what it does. The only thing is, of course, the key, the on-page SEO could be a little bit better. You have the default title over here instead of this H1 title here, so you should be able to change the HTML title tag to make it correctly. And make sure that you have the description set up correctly, that you have a canonical URL, and everything is set up. This should be pretty easy to do, I believe, and ship fast. Otherwise, let me know. I have a finished template that I created for ogimage.org. If you actually sign up and get the free license giveaway, you will be able to get this specific Next.js snippet that you can use, and this includes all the right tags that you might need, which also include this one, but funnily enough, for your own website, yeah, it's not available, so that should be better. Here, the free SEO checker finished. It gave us a little bit of information for this on-page, and it gives you the title and everything. So it's very bare bones. This should probably give you a few more details, like information, what you can do to improve it. There is some design issues that could be fixed, but otherwise, sure. Otherwise, that seems to be about it. The rest of the website is just a regular page. They have some links to creator tools and the Stripe test extension, something that they also made themselves. So they have a backlink in the bottom, and they reach out for the Twitter link is broken. But they have a bunch of tools here, which is like a directory as well, a way to generate revenue as an indie hacker. And another product that they launched, or I believe it's them, that they launched before, that at least they have here in the bottom. So maybe that could be also interesting to highlight. So let's check the Ahrefs keyword data and see what we are already working with. The domain rating is pretty low. They have a few backlinks, and the traffic seems to be working. Let's take a look at the top pages. So if people type in niche tools, that is already working quite well. And they are not really competing with anyone else, so that's good. So it's a real brand query, and that's quite important to have. Otherwise, there's a 1.9 GPA calculator. That was probably an example that they highlighted. Otherwise, there's no real keywords or traffic. They have a few backlinks from the creator tools that they made before, and some other pages that they potentially launched on, such as the indie hacker here, and then Matt has been highlighted in this list. So this gives you a little bit of a SEO boost, and that's why it's not 100% zero. But otherwise, it needs a bit of more extra backlink work. I think what we're missing here the most is probably a keyword data so that we need to focus on niche tools is good. It has 200 keyword volume, and it's nice because you have the domain and everything. But what I feel like could be a better way of getting some keywords is maybe more towards like free tool marketing or tool pages for SEO. Let's take a look at this by just typing it in and then seeing what Google gives us. Best on-page SEO tool, that's not what we expected. So maybe free tool marketing. Free marketing tools, not 100% what we want. Free tool marketing for SEO. Free tools for DOS SEO, stop free tools, no. Free tool SEO. Also not really, how's the SEO for free tools, optimizer. I believe I made a page, this one here, free tool SEO, free tool, or free tool SEO. Yeah, this links to an entire Notion document that I made earlier, and it highlights also how the free tools, why they work and everything. But let me check quickly if this page has been indexed and if it gets any keyword data. No, potentially not, so free tool SEO. No, Google died for us. Maybe it could be best keywords ideas for tools. Yeah, Google is very difficult on this. It's not really helping. Maybe it's more like about what you should build. Let's take a look. One thing that Keyword Explorer has actually is like asking AI and then you can drop stuff in here and it gives you like some keyword ideas. Let's see what it gives you. Niche tools, search tools and income. Hold on, let's do it again, free tools. And then enter correctly. This gives us new tools for income, top tools to build for profit, top tools with high search volume. Let's take a look at the Keyword Explorer data here. And there's boost strategy with tools. All of these are not really indexed. So there might be potentially like not a lot of awareness on this and potentially not like things that people look out for by offering free tools on your website. Keyword research ideas, or maybe it was a bit of micro. What to build for SEO traffic. Tools to build for SEO traffic. SEO strategy. This is like how I do some keyword research because it's not always so simple, right? It's hard to come up with ideas. And the keyword data, okay, you can type in something like free tool. But of course, that's not really what people would be typing in when they're looking for your data, right? Because you will see, okay, people are looking for paraphrasing tools or keyword research tools. So it's not always obvious to figure it out. Let's take a look at this post. It's more like a way of generating, maybe like the tools is not the best word. It's like generators, creators, brand mentions. SEO automation tools. SEO strategy. Maybe you can use something like perplexity to do some quick SEO result. Give me keyword ideas for free tool marketing. Build generators, makers, creators, or free tools you can use as part of your SEO strategy to get more organic traffic. And then maybe I can help us a little bit. What you see here is that they already did some research. And so what they, of course, looked for is also a lot of free tools or free tool ideas. So that seems like Google has some trouble understanding what this is. Let me just copy this entire thing. And then we actually see some results finally. And it's more crew by Beehive. And then indie hackers, stay paid. And one thing that we can do by checking the keyword volume is actually dropping this entire URL into Ahrefs. And then we see that Google, that Ahrefs gives us tool marketing as a keyword. And that used to rank for the specific page. So tool marketing seems to work, but the results might not always be what is expected. So tool marketing. It gives us like more like marketing tools, right? Because that's the result that someone should get for this keyword. So it's still very difficult to actually find it. But typing in like a very long tail keyword, like the entire sentence did give us a bit of a match. I believe I actually wrote this myself. Yeah, I did. So this page is not ranking for any keywords at all. So why free tools work for SEO? It's giving us more free SEO tools. How to get customers to free tool marketing. If we type this into Google, let's see what it gives us more free marketing tools. How to create a free tool to attract customers. Okay, here, finally, we have something that is like a mortgage calculator that is a freemium pricing calculator, some free apps, free toolkit. And the organic traffic here, the keywords that we get here are how to get customers online for free, attract clients online, where can I offer my services for free and get customers online? Okay, you can of course write something about this, but it's still not 100% directed towards your traffic. So it's not super helpful, unfortunately, but Google does show us the right thing. So what I would try to do is make a blog post like this one, specifically, Hiveage from hiveage.com. And this will explain more exactly what you're looking for. So in case someone goes as far as to type in this whole sentence that is like super long tail, that could potentially get you some traffic because you will be able to rank for it. And it is finally show us some matches. But the search intent clearly is more about marketing tools in general. Factory, they wrote a blog post about another rapper for making marketing tools. And they got mentioned on this podcast. Otherwise, we got a list finally from perplexity. Let's just drop this entire list into Keyword Explorer and see if there's any keyword volume at all. And this. And unfortunately, nothing. Marketing TennoFu, tool builder, PPC tool, create a CO2 maker, content marketing tool generator. These are actually more marketing tools for promoting free SEO tools. Now, so I think it's not a great match. Let's maybe take a look at YouTube and then type in something like free tool marketing. Nice, I already have a clue over here. How to market your business for free, proven strategies, so this person's talking about it. If we open up this YouTube, we will be able to potentially also see what is ranking for in Google by opening it up like this in the Site Explorer. And it's the keywords that are matching here are best ways to advertise your business, ways to promote your business, how to advertise your business, best ways to promote business locally, and so on. So these are very generic, actually, and it doesn't include any free tool marketing otherwise. If we go back and talk about how to create free tools for SEO strategy, let's see what we get here. And new ways, yeah, they might be talking about this a little bit. These websites. So let's take a look at the keyword data over here. We're gonna keywords, competitive SEO rank, competitive SEO recommendations. This is how to rank in a competitive niche, could be a good keyword, it has zero KD. So really what I would try to do in general is find, in short, I think there's not a lot of keyword volume specifically for this, so this might be very tricky to rank for SEO. You probably have better chances of making your own free tools than getting traffic, but otherwise it's very hard to actually get like specific keyword data that works for this page. What could potentially work a little bit better is focusing on maybe some other project or some other tool, and maybe promoting this instead of for SEO, promoting this on Twitter instead, promoting this as part of your blog, or promoting this as part of your, the different network, either through email or Twitter. So, because I think SEO specifically for this will not really work. You can make an SEO checker or like SEO strategy creator, that could really work well, but just for the main keyword, it's not something that people are so much interested in because they're maybe not super aware about this concept and Google is showing us completely different data. So there might not be so much of an interest or search intent in this. So that's my two cents, good luck.
